When to book: timing domestic and international flights from India

Airfares move with demand. Understanding the calendar of demand on Indian routes is the single best way to time a purchase.

How far ahead

For domestic flights, prices tend to be most reasonable three to six weeks before departure and climb steadily in the final fortnight. For international flights, aim for six to ten weeks, and three months or more for peak dates. These are tendencies, not guarantees: sales and capacity changes can create exceptions.

Days and times

Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday departures are often cheaper than Friday and Sunday. The first flight of the morning and late-night departures frequently undercut convenient mid-morning and early-evening slots. Our date strip and departure-time filters make these patterns easy to spot for your route.

Seasons that move Indian fares

  • Diwali and Chhath — sharp spikes on routes to North and East India; book early.
  • Christmas and New Year — Goa, Kerala and international leisure routes peak.
  • Summer holidays (May–June) — hill stations, international family travel.
  • Long weekends — short-haul leisure routes fill quickly.
  • Monsoon (July–September) — often softer demand for beach destinations.

Use the month view

Every Aeroport route page shows the lowest recent fare for each month. If your dates are flexible, start there, then open a search in the cheapest month and narrow down with the 14-day strip.

Watch, don't refresh

Constantly refreshing a search will not lower the price. A daily price alert gives you the same information without the effort — and a clear signal when it is time to book.
